Basic research, focusing on breaking through relevant technical problems and major scientific issues, creating a major scientific and technological innovation platform for regeneration regulation and eye and brain health with international influence, and safeguarding human life and health.

PI :

Professor Stephen R. Williams is an internationally renowned electrophysiologist, expert in cellular and systems neuroscience. He has held faculty and visiting scientist appointments on four continents (MRC-Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK; HHMI Janelia Farm, USA; Queensland and Monash Universities, Australia). Professor Williams has pioneered the investigation of neuronal circuit function. Over the course of his career his work has been regularly published in leading academic journals including Science, Nature, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience and Nature Communications, highlighting breakthroughs in the understanding of single neuron and circuit computations in neocortical and retinal circuitry through the development of multi-site electrical and two-photon optical recording techniques.
