Position reports to: Project Engineer,Project Manager

Primary objective

 Co-ordinates all the piping engineering,piping design and equipment layout functions to meet the objectives of a Project.

 Responsible authority over the Lead Piping/Layout Engineer,Lead Stress Engineer,Lead Material Engineer,all assigned to the discipline to complete the plant layout &piping design and engineering activities.

 To ensure all work carried out conforms with agreed codes and practices ,meets all requirements of the contracts specification and ensure all work is carried out within agreed schedules ,budgets and procedures.

 To provide innovative and cost effective solutions to clients for operating problems and capacity constraints in their existing oil and gas operations.

 To liaise with client piping team.

Specific Accountabilities

 Organise and manage all aspects of the workload of a team of piping discipline engineers and designers ,within the parameters of a project schedule.

 Establish a list of discipline deliverables.Control ,monitor and progress these deliverables to an agreed schedule.

 Organise and manage the resource requirements for the piping discipline.

 Exercise guidance to staff in the preparation of piping materials and valve specifications and subsequently ensure purchase to required standards.

 Inter discipline communication development.

 Piping group communication development.

 Prepare piping manhour estimate to perform project tasks.

 Manage piping design and any design changes within budget and schedule.

 Attend meetings with clients and be responsible for maintaining the meeting minutes.

 Prepare weekly piping progress and expenditure reports on a project specific basis.

 Quality Assurance –Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.

 Safety –Responsible for personal safety safe working practices.Understand and follow HSE procedures.

Lead Piping Engineer

Matching Indicators

 Bachelor's degree or above in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

 Minimum 8 years direct piping engineering experience in offshore Oil and Gas industry.

 A thorough knowledge of the codes and standards and a good understanding of offshore engineering practices applicable to topsides equipment layout and piping design for oil and gas facilities.

 Extensive current design experience is required in piping engineering,piping stress ,pipe supports , topsides equipment layouts and detailed piping design ,all gained with notable design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the petrochemical industry particularly with respect to offshore oil and gas installations.

 Sufficient knowledge of piping materials to guide staff in the preparation of piping and valve specifications and subsequently ensure purchase to required standards.

 Ability to manage projects.

 Fluent in English.
