JOB PURPOSE


We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic candidate to join our Trade Compliance team as a Trade Compliance Analyst. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with global trade regulations, optimizing trade processes, ensuring accurate and consistent tariff classifications, determining preferential and non-preferential origin, identifying opportunities for import duty/cost savings through preference trade programs, and leading customs audit defense efforts.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams, such as Legal, Logistics, Customs, Finance, Tax, and Regulatory Affairs, to mitigate trade risks and ensure adherence to compliance requirements.

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance and is based in Ziyang, China.



MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

The selected candidate will be responsible for the followings:

• Trade Compliance Management: Oversee daily trade compliance operations at AFAB ZY facility, ensuring strict adherence to both local and international trade regulations.

• Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate trade compliance risks, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and voluntary disclosures, when necessary, to uphold the organization’s compliance standards.

• Tariff Classification and Customs Valuation: Ensure accurate classification of goods by working closely with internal stakeholders to classify correct application of Harmonized System (HTS) codes; Provide guidance on customs valuation to maintain full regulatory compliance.

• Origin Determination: Accurately determine preferential and non-preferential country of origin, providing essential guidance on leveraging preferential trade agreements to reduce or eliminate import duties, while ensuring compliance.

• Customs Audit Defense: Lead and coordinate comprehensive customs audit defenses, collaborating with key stakeholders such as Customs Affairs, Finance, and the Legal Compliance team. Prepare critical documentation and liaise with authorities throughout the audit process.

• Preferential Trade Management: Manage the free trade program by issuing internal and client certificates and working with Sourcing to ensure timely responses from suppliers, ensuring compliance with trade agreements.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Customs Affairs, Finance, iTero Logistics, Project Management, and other relevant departments, to foster a culture of compliance.

• Trade Compliance Training and Support: Provide comprehensive training, guidance, and support to internal teams to ensure a thorough understanding of compliance requirements and proper documentation practices.

• Documentation and Record Keeping: Monitor and ensure accurate and thorough documentation for all shipments, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and certificates of origin. Proper record-keeping is crucial for audits and dispute resolution.

• Regulatory Monitoring: Stay informed on changes to trade laws and regulations, assessing their impact on company operations and ensuring timely adjustments to maintain compliance.


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trade compliance, with specific expertise in the E-book program and customs regulations in China, APAC experience is a plus.

• Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, tariff classification and customs valuation, and processes.

• Experience managing and defending customs audits, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.

• Familiarity with preferential trade programs and origin determination requirements.

• Proven ability to streamline and improve trade compliance processes for operational efficiency.

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in mandarin and English.

• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Customs Affairs, Finance, Logistics, and Project Management.

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

• Proficient in trade compliance software and Microsoft Office (SAP, GTS, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).



ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

• Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in trade compliance, with specific expertise in the E-book program and customs regulations in China, APAC experience is a plus.


LANGUAGES

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Mandarin and English.
