The Ergonomics Specialist Engineer is responsible for defining and optimizing the ergonomic aspects of vehicle architecture, ensuring that all systems, modules, and components are designed for optimal human interaction, comfort, safety, and usability. The goal is to achieve the best possible outcome in terms of user experience, accessibility, and compliance with ergonomic standards, while also considering function, design, weight, and cost. The Ergonomics Specialist Engineer acts as a central hub in the design process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate ergonomic principles throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and validation of ergonomic concepts for vehicle interiors and exteriors, focusing on occupant comfort, accessibility, and usability.
Conduct ergonomic assessments using digital and physical mock-ups (DMU), ensuring compliance with international and local ergonomic standards.
Collaborate with platform organizations, marketing, R&D, and production to gather requirements and integrate ergonomic solutions into vehicle concepts.
Analyze customer requirements and feedback to continuously improve ergonomic features and address complaints.
Prepare and present ergonomic evaluations and recommendations to stakeholders, supporting decision-making throughout the development process.
Ensure that all packaging-relevant components meet ergonomic clearance and usability requirements.
Support the release and evaluation of components from an ergonomic perspective, following established development milestones.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ergonomic trends, tools, and best practices in the automotive industry.
Passion for automotive ergonomics and human factors engineering.
University degree in engineering, ergonomics, industrial design, or a related field.
Experience in automotive ergonomics, packaging, and dimensional concept development.
Strong knowledge of ergonomic assessment tools and digital mock-up (DMU) systems.
Excellent communication skills in English (German preferred but not mandatory).
