The Senior Buyer oversees and mentors the activities of the Buyer (s). Manages commodity grouping and is responsible for all Buyer activities (see Buyer job description) when there are no buyers at the site. Oversees, supplier development and certification for suppliers within their commodity group. Directs the acquisition of product from their commodity line for international locations. Participates in Strategic Procurement Teams for all Labcorp activities based upon their commodity group. Position is 100% strategic.
Essential Functions
1. Negotiate with suppliers for the acquisition of materials and services.
2. Insure all purchasing needs within the company are met. This requires positive communications and order feedback to the requesting individuals or department.
3. Develop tools to analyze bid proposals and determine best outcome for the corporation
4. Provide internal customers with alternative supplier(s), product(s), and/or service(s). Other than proprietary supplier, products, and/or service.
5. Review and seek opportunities for new supply and service sources.
6. Provide coaching, supervision, and feedback to Buyer(s) and other departmental personnel.
7. Prioritize and direct daily tasks and special projects for positions within their purchasing scope or commodity group.
8. Ability to lead groups and act as a Project Manager in Procurement Task Teams.
Required
• A four-year degree in related field, five years work experience in a related field, and one of the certifications listed below or nine years of related experience with one of the certifications listed below.
• Must have proven record of excellent communication, customer service, analytical experience, and organizational skills.
• Purchasing, Inventory Management, and personal computer experience required.
• Ability to facilitate meetings and manage multiple departmental projects.
Preferred
• A.P.P. certification or C.P.M certification
• Japanese language skill (N2); fluent on the speaking and writing in Japanese
