Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as a role model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational development and become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurture future-oriented, high-level and innovative talents.

In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe.

About Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change thrust:
Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change Thrust is an academic unit established in Feb 2023 under the Society Hub of HKUST(GZ), short for CNCC thrust. CNCC thrust area addresses key national priorities, trains next generation of leaders who face global challenges of climate change, seize opportunities of the new industrial revolution, and develop technical, institutional and policy solutions for a shared sustainable future.

Duties:
The appointee will provide support in the administrative affairs in the Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change Thrust under the Society Hub, HKUST(GZ), including but not limited to below:
1. Assist in the faculty recruitment related affairs, including coordinating the logistics of faculty candidates’ campus visit and job talk sessions;
2. Assist in personnel management, responsible for full-cycle faculty/staff services including on-boarding procedures and daily personnel support matters;
3. Liaise with other academic and administrative units within HKUST(GZ);
4. Assist in managing relevant financial affairs and procurement work for the Thrust;
5. Complete ad-hoc duties assigned by the thrust head.

3. 与大学的其他学术和行政部门保持有效沟通和协作；
4. 协助管理学域相关财务事务与采购工作；
5. 完成学域主任交代的其他事务。

Requirements:
1. Applicants should hold a good bachelor’s degree or above and at least 3 years of professional records. Working experiences in the higher education sector or a public/quasi-public organization are preferable.
2. The appointee should possess good planning, organizational and communication skills.
3. The appointee should be a self-motivator and act as a team player with a solution-driven mindset.
4. The appointee should possess a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to mobilize working partners to produce quality work under pressure and tight timelines.
5. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese is required.
