Purpose of Role
The Assistant Head of Academic (G7 – G9) is a Secondary School Leadership Team member and collaborates closely with the Head of Secondary School to ensure high-quality learning and teaching throughout the Secondary School, especially Grades 7-9. They will also work closely with subject leaders and the Head of Positive Behaviour G7-9 to support students and teachers to maximise students’ attainment.
The Assistant Head of Academic (G7 – G9) is responsible for ensuring the effective administration of the Middle School Curriculum and its alignment with Dehong’s vision and values, Education Bureau requirements, and IB and IAD expectations. In conjunction with the High School Teaching and Learning coordinator, under the leadership of the Head of Secondary School, the Assistant Head of Academic (G7 – G9) provides leadership for Pedagogy/Teaching and Learning and oversees all requirements, policies, procedures and practices for the Middle School Curriculum. The Assistant Head of Academic (G7 – G9) also creates effective practices to monitor and support student learning across the Grade 7-12 curriculum.
As an outstanding teacher, the Assistant Head of Academic (G7 – G9) believes strongly in action research and is committed to participating in, leading professional learning and sharing best practices in progressive bilingual education.
