Purpose of Role
Responsible for the daily operation and development of the school library, supporting students and teachers in learning and teaching needs, promoting information literacy, and ensuring efficient management of library resources and services.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Developing the school library and learning resources across the curriculum
• Support students with locating books, resources, and specific materials
• Support teachers with resources and the use of the library
• Manage behaviour of students accordingly within the library
• Maintain and update library records accordingly via the library software
• Create library displays and promote reading and study within the library
• Lead introductory sessions for students visiting the library so they understand library procedures
• Deliver library lessons and information literacy sessions to students
• Have high levels of organisation and attention to detail
• Help drive our Accelerated Reader programme
• Support students to research their internal assessments and extended essays
• Assist in developing various library instruction programs and provide support to staff and students
• Design an efficient information literacy program for all students, supervise expenditure for all activities, allocate appropriate budgets to all programs, and coordinate with the library management team to prepare strategies to resolve issues
• Develop annual library and capital budgets and prepare drafts for various reports to assist in accreditations of college programs, and ensure compliance with all user requirements through all library collections
• Manage and assist in acquiring all materials, ensure compliance with development policies, allocate appropriate budgets, evaluate all collections for curriculum needs, and supervise all community outreach and literacy programs
• Prepare and document all library policies in collaboration with academic affairs, supervise procurement and maintenance of AV equipment and associated hardware/software, and provide necessary training to staff
• Participate in all meetings and workshops for library services, assist students with reference services, provide all required information to staff and faculty, and develop all library services collection activities
• Administer and organize various library services, participate in all meetings, ensure adherence to library policies and procedures, manage collection activities, and manage subject specialty programs
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and academic communities, and assist in various library activities
• Prepare reports for strategic plans, prepare appropriate budgets, maintain records of all expenditures, analyze data for library services and functions, and design public relations programs
We are looking for someone who is
• Bachelor’s degree in education
• Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent
• Excellent proficiency in oral and written English
• Enthusiasm for work with young people
• Internationally minded and culturally curious
• Experience of working in a school or public library as a librarian or similar
• Excellent communication skills situations.
