What you’ll do:
"This role is withn Eaton Research Labs. The succesful candidate has the
principal goal of identifying, developing, and justifying commercialization of
significant growth opportunities for diverse Eaton businesses in the area of
power electronics, power converters, power systems, electric drives,
electromagnetics, numerical modeling and controls.
The Engineering Specialist is expected to lead technology strategy and
execution for specific applications. This includes acquiring resources, funding
and establishing key partnerships both internally and externally to drive
technological advancement. They will be responsible for meeting the schedule,
scope, cost and technical targets for all research and development efforts
under his/her control.
The Specialist Engineer should serve as a subject matter expert within the
area of Power Conversion for Eaton. This includes developing and maintaining
relationships with the external technical community and academia, active
participation in industry or technical groups and events, publishing papers,
etc. Finally as a subject matter expert internally the Specialist Engineer will
be expected to mentor junior staff and consult with internal business &
engineering customers"
"• Lead the design and development of next-generation Solid-State Circuit
Breaker (SSCB) technologies, serving as Principal Investigator with the PDSS
business (TRL5 by 2025)
• Provide strategic guidance to business and product roadmap by leveraging
deep domain expertise and industry insight.
• Serve as a recognized company-wide expert in a key technology domain,
providing insight on critical initiatives.
• Perform tech scouting for Eaton, conducting proactive technology
landscape assessments to identify emerging trends and opportunities aligned
with future business needs.
• Apply experience in the commercialization of early-stage technologies,
including both successful launches and lessons learned from unsuccessful
efforts.
• Facilitate open innovation initiatives in collaboration with universities
and external research institutions that align with the Power Block strategy.
• Participate in internal ideation initiatives such as Innovation Summits
and Design Bursts, contributing to technical concept generation and refinement.
• Act as a subject matter expert across cross-functional teams, including
participation in external technical forums, mentorship of junior staff, and
internal consulting.
• Contribute to and guide intellectual property (IP) generation"
Qualifications:
Master in Power Electronics, Ph.D preferred
Master 8+ years, Ph. D. 3+ years
Skills:
"•Deep understanding of power electronics technologies and their application
in power conversion areas
• Extensive experience with power semiconductor devices, gate drive
technologies, thermal management, and a wide range of converter
topologies(AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC) power converter topologies, encompassing
both design and control strategies.
• Proven track record in high-power power electronics system hardware
design, development, and verification.
• Significant expertise in implementing and validating control algorithms
on embedded platforms
• Experiences with magnetics in power electronics like high frequency
transformer, high frequency inductor, CT, hall sensor.
• Experiences with EMI/EMC analysis and filter design
• Experiences with Batteries and battery management systems."
