JOB PURPOSE
The controller's primary role is to support SMS China Division CFO to build a robust internal control environment within Division entities to ensure quality financial statements are prepared for business steering.
Furthermore, the controller is responsible for leading the accounting team and driving efficiency improvement through standard working process and digitalization, to ensure an effective finance operation to support business.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Governance & Internal Control
- Support Division CFO to build an appropriate governance model to enable effective decision making, as well as issue escalation and collaboration between organizations;
- Serving as the division IC lead to guide the subsidiaries to establish effective operation process and ways of workings that meet Sandvik governance requirements, where proper control mechanisms are embedded;
- Lead subsidiary cross-functional team to implement internal control framework to ensure all the control procedures as well as control self-assessment is clearly documented, the relevant stakeholders are fully aligned on the respective roles and responsibilities;
- Ensure IC self-assessment is well performed and follow up with responsible person on remediation closure if any;
- Escalate medium and high-risk items to management to avoid and mitigate any negative business consequences.
Financial Reporting
- Understand, interpret and guide the finance team to have group and BA Financial Reporting Procedures, Guidelines fully aligned and implemented throughout the Division finance organization;
- Timely update the group and BA FRP, propose and document Division financial guidelines if necessary to make sure local team is updated and having a guiding manual for practical transaction handlings;
- Validate the financial result at each month end and work closely with accounting team to ensure data accuracy and timely;
- Work closely with Division CFO and Business Controller to define the most appropriate BU/Sub-BU profit center; cost center; costing element etc. structure to make sure those reporting dimensions is well implemented in accounting to generate the needed management reporting;
- Conduct monthly BS review to make sure accounting hygienics for Division entities.
Division Finance Operation
- Implement and build Division accounting SSC to create critical mass as well as domain expertise in respective accounting cycles;
- Propose and design the organization structure for Division SSC team to get to a best set up for financial accounting that is capable to deliver a qualified accounting service according to SLA;
- Lead the SSC team to establish / document Standard Operation Procedure for each accounting cycle and document the SOP in an appropriate manner;
- People responsibilities including but not limited to lead / coach / motivate / retain etc. to continuously improve the competence level for the team.
ERP Master Data and Blueprint
- Lead ERP concept team to establish a well-defined control procedure to manage ERP Master Data, including stock item / customer / vendor etc. master data and ensure MD is accurately and timely maintained and monitored, access control is strictly followed;
- Conduct regular review of MD with sign off with stakeholders and ensure MD is up to date;
- Lead the ERP concept team to collaborate with business owners and understand improvement needs for optimization, which include process enhancement, system functionality and facilities, digitalization, end-to-end process standardization etc.
- Drive continuous improvement against those business needs until closure;
- Facilitate any business intelligence initiatives with BA / Division stakeholders if any.
