Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.
The work model for the role is: on side :We are seeking an experienced and skilled Automation Engineer specializing in programming and design work with ABB 800xA Distributed Control Systems (DCS). This role will be responsible for designing Ebase electrical schematics, developing AC800M PLC programs, and designing 800xA HMI interfaces. The candidate must be proficient in using tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Ebase Electrical Schematic Design: Use Ebase or similar software to complete electrical schematic designs ensuring that drawings comply with IEC standards and project requirements. ABB AC800M PLC Program Design: Utilize ABB Control Builder M software based on customer processes to configure and program AC800M controllers, familiar with IEC 61131 programming language standards, capable of independently writing and debugging control logic.
- 800xA HMI Design: Leverage ABB-provided HMI development tools to design and implement user-friendly operator interfaces ensuring smooth and efficient human-machine interaction. Design Redundant Network Architecture Using Layer 3 Switches: Design redundant network architectures for DCS systems and configure switches. Documentation Preparation: Use Microsoft Word and Excel to generate detailed project documentation and technical reports, including but not limited to system design specifications, operation manuals, and maintenance guides.
- AutoCAD Application: Use AutoCAD to draw auxiliary mechanical or electrical diagrams when necessary to support overall project implementation. Technical Support and Maintenance: Provide technical support during installation and commissioning; solve any technical issues that arise; regularly maintain and upgrade existing systems to ensure their stable operation.
Qualifications for the role
- Education Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Mechatronics, or related fields.Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience in automation equipment maintenance and commissioning; preference given to candidates with experience in ABB 800xA DCS system projects. Proficient in using Ebase software to efficiently complete electrical schematic designs. Expertise in ABB Control Builder M software, familiar with AC800M controller configuration and programming procedures. In-depth understanding of 800xA HMI design, able to customize development according to client needs. Proficiency in using AutoCAD for drawing diagrams, expertise in advanced functions of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Solid foundation in PLC programming, knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus, Profinet, etc.
- Additional Requirements: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, ability to effectively collaborate with cross-departmental teams. Strong sense of responsibility and meticulous work attitude, able to remain calm under pressure and quickly resolve problems. Willingness to accept short-term travel assignments to support site installations and commissioning.Bonus Points:
- Possession of official ABB certifications or other relevant professional qualifications. Successful implementation of large-scale automation control projects in, mining industries, Hoisting.
- Sensitivity to the latest automation technologies and trends, willingness to learn new technologies and apply them in actual work.
